2021 REMODELERS SHOWCASE ENTRY
Steps from Canyon Road, this home was a delight in designing a modern remodel, while keeping all of the charms of its history. Originally built in 1930, this pueblo style home presented a unique challenge in keeping the historical design while making it a fully modern and functional Santa Fe transitional retreat.
The home before the renovations and remodel, was best described by the homeowners as “dreary and uninviting, but with plenty of potential.” With this statement in mind, Zachary and Sons sought out to brighten and open up the home.
Reclaiming the historical characteristics of the home, from decorative detail tiles embedded in the courtyard walls, to the original brick flooring, and front door was crucial to the homeowners and to Zachary and Sons.
Main living areas were given new satin-finish venetian plaster, allowing a cohesive and timeless finish. The ceiling and beams were sanded down and given a fresh coat of white paint, and all new lighting systems.
In the heart of the home, new kitchen cabinets and marble countertops along with stainless steel appliances, present an up-to-date kitchen experience. The neutral brown cabinet color and tiles, tie in the traditional Santa Fe pallet.
One of the more unique aspects of this home, was the redesign of the bathrooms. Tiles from the guest bathroom, original and one of a kind, were brightened up with new grout and cabinetry. The master bath was the subject of a total renovation, with neutral tiles and stone adorning the newly opened space.
Many structural elements were tackled through the remodel, including a new roof and cracks throughout the adobe foundation. Courtyard walls and much of the home have a new stucco finish and paint color.
The resulting remodel has the clients enamored with the results. The entire project was a team effort in design between Zachary and Sons and the homeowners, ensuring this home will stand the test of time, as it did for so long before.
Zachary and Sons do complete remodels, and quite frequently! Santa Fe has a lot of old homes in need of serious work, and we love the challenges they present to the team!
