Elegantly designed and expertly crafted, this luxurious modern home at the Club Casitas in Las Campanas is a testament to the grace and tranquility that modern architecture can bring to Santa Fe. With tasteful interior finishes such as white-oak cabinetry, ash-wood ceilings, and thoughtfully placed wall-washer skylights, this home is the definition of sophistication.
Originally a family complex built in the 1930s, the compound comprises three structures and a sweet courtyard that serves as its own sanctuary. Zachary & Sons’ goal in this project was to apply a bit of polish to this property, which was already imbued with a timeless charm.
The Harkins-Doll House, located at 214 Griffin Street, highlights an important era of Santa Fe’s architectural, social, and economic development. Built between 1919 and 1920 in perhaps the first neighborhood of bungalows in Santa Fe, the Chicago-style bungalow on Griffin was part of the last wave of modest houses constructed before the widespread adoption of the Santa Fe style of architecture.
This 1930 pueblo style home presented a unique challenge in keeping the historical aesthetic while creating it a modern and functional Santa Fe retreat. Retaining the historic characteristics of the home, from decorative detail tiles embedded in the courtyard walls to the original brick flooring and the front door were crucial to the homeowners and Zachary and Sons.
